Classes & Workshops on the Intensive

Our intensive is designed to give you the full spectrum of the Ashtanga experience — from the depth and discipline of daily Mysore practice, to the clarity of guided sessions, and the richness of afternoon workshops. Each element is carefully structured to support your growth: breathwork to steady the mind, Mysore practice to cultivate consistency and independence, led sessions to refine rhythm and focus, and workshops to explore philosophy, biomechanics, alignment, movement, and skill development. Together, these sessions create a balanced and holistic journey, blending tradition with exploration so that you leave with both practical tools and deeper understanding.

Morning Practice

Morning sessions are where discipline meets introspection. These classes establish the rhythm of the intensive, combining breathwork, focused movement, and mindful repetition to build strength, clarity, and presence. Each day unfolds progressively, preparing both body and mind for deeper practice and study throughout the week.

Mysore Style Self Practice

Each morning begins with Mysore Style, the traditional format of Ashtanga Yoga where you move through the sequence at your own pace under the attentive guidance of the teachers. This method respects your rhythm, ability, and energy levels, allowing for a deeply personal exploration within the supportive energy of the group. We begin with 5–10 minutes of guided pranayama to center the mind and steady the breath, creating focus and balance before moving into practice. From there, you’ll receive individualized guidance, adjustments, and progressions tailored to your unique needs.

Friday Mysore with Led Standing

Friday morning’s Mysore class begins slightly differently. We open together with a led Standing Sequence, counting the breath and movement in unison. This collective rhythm helps refine your vinyasa, strengthen foundations, and deepen awareness of breath-movement connection. After the standing series, you transition into Mysore style, continuing your practice at your own pace with ongoing teacher support. This blend of structure and freedom combines the best of both approaches.

Afternoon Workshops

Each week includes three themed afternoon workshops, designed to complement and expand your morning practice. These sessions are two hours long and allow us to explore technical, philosophical, and creative aspects of yoga and movement in more depth.

Workshop A

(Week 1: Body Awareness & Philosophy / Week 2: Alignment & Breath)

We begin with explorations of body awareness, biomechanics, and breath, creating a felt sense of how the body and mind interact in practice. Philosophy talks connect your personal experience with timeless teachings, before closing with guided relaxation. In the second week, the focus shifts to biomechanics and detailed alignment breakdowns of key postures, always contextualized through the lens of philosophy and lived practice.

Workshop B

(Week 1: Backbend Blueprint / Week 2: Hips & Hamstrings Protocol)

In week one we introduce the Backbend Blueprint: a step-by-step approach to understanding prerequisites, preparing joints, and building both strength and openness for sustainable backbends.

In week two, the focus shifts to a comprehensive hips and hamstrings protocol. This sequence directly supports some of the most challenging postures in the Mysore practice — such as lotus variations, deep forward bends, and leg-behind-head poses. By systematically opening the hips
and lengthening the hamstrings, students gain the mobility, stability, and confidence needed to approach these demanding asanas safely and progressively.

Workshop C

(Week 1: Movement & Handstands / Week 2: Movement, Transitions & Handstands)

This workshop brings in movement practices to expand your range beyond traditional asana. Week one begins with primal movement patterns, coordinations, and playful partner games to build body
intelligence, followed by a focused handstand session.

In week two, we explore jump-through
progressions and arm balances, again closing with dedicated handstand practice. These sessions combine play, skill-building, and technical refinement, helping you build strength, coordination, and confidence in challenging transitions and inversions.
